Sebastopol, CA -- Registration is now open for RailsConf 2007, the largest official conference dedicated to Rails--the platform enabling many advances in Web 2.0 technology. Co-produced by Ruby Central, Inc. and O'Reilly Media, Inc., the conference offers a comprehensive educational experience for all participants in a spirited and welcoming environment. RailsConf 2007 is happening May 17-20, 2007 at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland, Oregon. Last year's RailsConf sold out in only a few days, and demand for this event is expected to be even greater.
The four-day RailsConf 2007 program will feature the most innovative and successful Rails experts and companies. Attendees will learn about the bleeding edge Rails techniques, strategies, and pitfalls in Rails adoption, as well as best practice development theory. Sessions will be offered for all levels of expertise including hands-on workshops that will show how to employ Rails in a variety of situations.
RailsConf also provides a unique opportunity for the growing, international Rails community to connect, contribute, and collaborate.
This year's featured speakers and sessions include:
- David Heinemeier Hansson, original creator of Rails
- Dave Thomas, software developer and author
- Jamis Buck, member of the Rails core team
- Jim Weirich, software consultant, programmer, and creator of rake
- Michael Koziarski, member of the Rails core team
- Mike Clark, consultant, author, speaker, and programmer
- David A. Black, Ruby and Rails programmer, author, and trainer
The conference will feature an exhibitor gallery showcasing the latest Rails-related products and services, as well as volunteer and community projects; sponsored sessions illustrating Rails in action in the enterprise; after-hours events to encourage networking and interaction with experts, alpha geeks, and the Rails core team; as well as official Rails announcements.
RailsConf examines the current state of Rails and related technologies, providing a framework to grasp how Rails is gaining traction in the emerging, next generation of the Web. The event aims to break down barriers to adoption, put developers on the fast track to productivity, and share knowledge among the diverse group of Rails enthusiasts. The event is expected to draw web and open source developers, IT managers tracking emerging technologies, tech-savvy entrepreneurs seeking to deploy web-based start-ups quickly, and anyone interested in web technologies and strategic implementation.
O'Reilly conferences include: ETech, the O'Reilly Emerging Technology Conference; OSCON, the O'Reilly Open Source Convention; the MySQL Conference & Expo, co-presented with MySQL AB; ETel, the O?Reilly Emerging Telephony Conference; the O'Reilly Where 2.0 Conference; the O?Reilly TOC Conference; RailsConf and RailsConf Europe, co-presented with Ruby Central; Web 2.0 Expo and Web 2.0 Summit (co-hosted by Tim O'Reilly and John Battelle, and co-produced with CMP Technology).
