Finance Meets Technology at the O'Reilly Money:Tech Conference
Inaugural Event Coming to New York
Sebastopol, CA, October 29--Registration is now open for the O'Reilly Money:Tech Conference, taking place February 6-7, 2008, at the Waldorf Astoria in New York, New York. Technology is transforming money, investing, and Wall Street like at no other time in modern history--and the pace of change is accelerating. Money:Tech is expected to draw over 500 key influencers in the financial world including entrepreneurs, investors, technologists, academics, and high-profile speakers. Tim O'Reilly, founder and CEO of O'Reilly Media, said about Money:Tech:
"We want to bring Web 2.0 entrepreneurs to Wall Street, so that the Street can learn from these companies--and help teach them about new ways to leverage the data they are gathering. Because that's the other key insight here: many startups toiling in the fields of the consumer internet are missing opportunities to monetize their data in financial markets."
The conference will include two days of plenary sessions, demonstrations, panels, and keynote presentations around the new technologies and methodologies that are transforming how money--and information--changes hands. O'Reilly Money:Tech Conference is an intimate, collaborative event that melds thought leadership with practical sessions led by conference chair Paul Kedrosky, entrepreneur and VC. This event will:
-Expose the importance of Web 2.0 technologies in the financial industry
-Arm the industry with information and resources to initiate change leadership for the digital age
-Focus on the money-technology connection
-Unite established players with alpha geeks and edge up-and-comers
-Center on success stories and working models
Money:Tech will raise the level of conversation around technology advances in the institutional investment industry, and bring together innovators with established players to compare and contrast tools and ideas. Hedge fund managers, financial entrepreneurs, technologists, academics, investors, equity/financial/investment analysts, and VCs will come together at Money:Tech to push the technology forward. The program schedule, will include industry experts such as:
-James Altucher, Stockpickr
