Sebastopol, CA—While a thankfully small percentage of us actually suffer from the grain allergy known as celiac disease, many of us increasingly want to stay away from the gluten that aggravates it. Gluten causes an autoimmune reaction in celiac patients and can sometimes make the rest of us just plain old uncomfortable. In the last few years, a new industry has sprung up around the trend of gluten-free eating.
CRAFT joins the crowd by focusing on gluten-free side dishes for the holiday table. Underscoring the popularity of this new "It" diet, Cooking for Geeks author Jeff Potter (@cookingforgeeks) teams up with CRAFT to offer four great seasonal recipes that are emphatically gluten-free—and entirely delicious.
Every recipe in this CRAFT exclusive food feature is delicious and easy to make. Begin the celebration with Jeff's "Sage Rush" gin cocktail, and then enjoy butternut squash soup and rosemary mashed potatoes before finishing lightly with pears in a red wine sauce. (Of course there's a turkey recipe as well.) CRAFT contributor Maris Callahan has a slate of wheat-free suggestions of her own, making this special issue one to bookmark and return to as the holiday approaches.
CRAFT wants to help you avoid any bellyaching this holiday, bringing fresh gluten-free ideas to the communal table. Add your own by submitting your gluten-free recipe photos to the CRAFT flickr pool with the tag "craftglutenfree" for a random chance to receive a free e-book version of Cooking for Geeks.
