San Francisco , CA, February 10, 2011—O'Reilly Media, Inc. and UBM TechWeb, producers of Web 2.0 Expo, have announced the list of participating companies for this year's Web 2.0 Expo San Francisco 2011 Nonprofit Pavilion. The leading annual event for those building the next-generation Web creates the Nonprofit Pavilion for ten nonprofit organizations to showcase their important work. This year, Web 2.0 Expo focuses on "Unlocking the Digital Economy," helping businesses prosper from their ideas in 2011. Web 2.0 Expo San Francisco is taking place March 28 - 31, 2011 at Moscone West.
"These organizations are using Web 2.0 tools and technologies to make our world better," said Sarah Milstein, Web 2.0 Expo Co-Chair and TechWeb General Manager. "We're really pleased that Web 2.0 Expo can shine a light on their work."
A committee of Web 2.0 Expo influencers selected the following nonprofits based on how each uses Web 2.0 tools and technologies in their work. Each organization will be supplied with booth space, on-site branding, an Internet connection, and inclusion in the online and printed events guide, completely free of charge.

Jen Pahlka, Executive Director, Code for America said, "Nonprofits are both not only using the Web as a platform in new and exciting ways, but we're also building it, like our small army of Code for America fellows who are bringing government into the Web 2.0 era. It's fantastic that Web 2.0 Expo, the center of innovation in this community, is showcasing some of the great work going on in the nonprofit sector."
Web 2.0 Expo has also committed an additional $2,000 dollars to purchasing gift cards from DonorsChoose.org. The event committee will distribute the cards randomly throughout the event to Web 2.0 Expo attendees.
"DonorsChoose.org is thrilled to partner with Web 2.0 this year. For the past 10 years, DonorsChoose.org has empowered people to take action about educational inequity via online peer-to-peer philanthropy. We are excited to drive innovation in our model and continue to impact public school teachers and their students through this partnership," said Candice Jimenez, Director of the West Region, DonorsChoose.org.
Celebrating its fifth year as the leading event inspiring and educating the tech industry by providing educational programs and valuable networking opportunities, the event includes several new session formats. In addition to new 20-minute breakouts, the program features a track of Conversations, 50-minute roundtable discussions open to attendee participation. Each Conversation will be led by a Web 2.0 expert and dedicated to a hot topic, and rather than simply listen or ask questions, attendees will be at the center of the discussion.
Web 2.0 Expo San Francisco 2011 welcomes supporting companies, including Impact sponsors Microsoft and Rackspace; and Premier exhibitors Berlin Partner, OpenSRS, Softlayer, Stratascale and TokBox.
