Sebastopol, CA—March 23, 2011—O'Reilly Strata Online Conference is a fast-paced, web-based series tackling the impact of our data-driven, always-on world. Launching Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at 9:00 a.m. US-PDT, this first of a three-part series combines thorough tutorials with provocative panel discussions and real-world case studies.
Led by O'Reilly Strata Conference co-chair and Bitcurrent founder Alistair Croll, this first O'Reilly Strata Online Conference takes a long look at the business side of data. Titled "Toward a Data-Driven Enterprise," the program looks at how information will shape tomorrow's markets.
"The field of Big Data is changing so fast and companies are putting information to work in so many new ways. We created the O'Reilly Strata Online Conference series to keep up with these changes in packed, focused, sessions that tackle a specific vertical or technology stack," Croll says. "The first one will look at how enterprises are dealing with information, from compliance to mapping data on the world; we'll also hear real-world examples from the financial and energy industries."
Running for two-and-a-half hours, the agenda features Gavin Starks (AMME) giving a tutorial on "Building a Supply Data Chain," followed by a panel discussion with Jeff Jonas (IBM Entity Analytics), Chris Thorpe (Artfinder), and Benjamin Hayes (Accenture) debating "Who Owns Data?" Peter Laird (BEA) takes on real world applications, speaking on "Tracking the World, One Thing at a Time," before Ian White (Urban Mapping, Inc.) discusses "Blending Private and Public Data Sets." The conference ends with Steve Hirsch (NYSE Euronext) giving a real world application talk on "Finance and Insurance."
If you've attended an in-person Strata Conference, you've already been invited to this online event. If you've never attended Strata, this conference will give you a taste for more.
The O'Reilly Strata Online Conference: Toward the Data-Driven Enterprise is slated for Wednesday, April 6, from 9:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m. US-PDT. Cost is $149 USD; includes access to a recording of the conference for future reference.
