Sebastopol, CA--O'Reilly Media, Inc. and dpunkt.verlag announced today that they have launched a media partnership for German-language technology content. Beginning July 1, 2015, dpunkt will develop and distribute O'Reilly's German-language publishing program, support existing German-language O'Reilly books and, going forward, release new titles under the O'Reilly brand. The companies are also exploring further collaboration on digital products, and bringing O'Reilly's technology conference model to Germany.
"O'Reilly remains committed to the German market," said O'Reilly President Laura Baldwin. "In fact, by partnering with dpunkt, we plan to expand our presence, and bring our integrated media model to Germany. Customers care about getting access to high-quality content in many formats, and we are excited about offering them more choices in the German language."
"O’Reilly and dpunkt always had a close and trustful working relationship, both in Germany and in the U.S." said Gerhard Rossbach, one of dpunkt’s founders. "We want to make sure that the tech community in Germany will continue to have access to the excellent publishing program by O’Reilly."
The O'Reilly Verlag office has built the O'Reilly brand in Germany since 1994, publishing more than 800 titles and participating actively in the German tech community. Working closely with dpunkt to ensure a smooth and orderly transition, the O'Reilly Verlag office in Köln, Germany, will close in stages, over the course of the next year.
