Sebastopol, CA—Velocity, O'Reilly's systems engineering conference, broadens its reach beyond front-end performance and celebrates its tenth year June 19–22, 2017, at the San Jose Convention Center.
While still focused on "velocity" and performance, the conference program offers a full-stack, end-to-end view of applications and services, as it embraces the concept of resilient engineering and shares insights about building the fastest and most durable systems.
Chairs Ines Sombra, James Turnbull, and Mary Treseler have created a program that includes Velocity's traditional strong points of performance and operations, as well as talks on edge computing, networks and content delivery, distributed data and databases, storage, and technical leadership. Speakers include:
- Kelsey Hightower, Google
- Dianne Marsh, Netflix
- Adam Jacob, Chef
- Artur Bergman, Fastly
- Camille Fournier, Independent
- Peter Alvaro, UC Santa Cruz
- Dharma Shukla, Microsoft
- Dawn Parzych, Catchpoint
- Dave Andrews, Verizon Digital Media Services
- Kristopher Beevers, NS1
- Buddy Brewer SOASTA
- David Hayes, PagerDuty
- Phillip Liu, SignalFx
- Nicholas Weaver, Intel
- Martin Woodward, Microsoft
Velocity offers those who build and manage complex distributed systems and want to learn how to bake in resiliency four full days focused on systems engineering, operations, and performance.
Velocity is co-located with Fluent, O'Reilly's conference about building a better web.
Registration remains open, and a limited number of media passes are available to qualified speakers and analysts. Contact maureen@oreilly.com for interview requests and more information.
