Award program honors the industry’s most innovative and disruptive data science startups, products, and initiatives
NEW YORK—STRATA DATA CONFERENCE—O’Reilly, the premier source for insight-driven learning on technology and business, today announced the winners of the 2019 Strata Data Awards, recognizing the most innovative data-driven startups, projects, and initiatives from sponsors and exhibitors at the Strata Data Conference, presented with Cloudera.
There were four innovative companies recognized with Strata Data Awards:
- Micro Focus Vertica was awarded the “Data Impact Award” for Climate FieldView, a digital agriculture platform for innovative farming for The Climate Corporation. This award is given to a project or initiative that uses data science and analytics to have a widespread, positive impact on society.
- The “Most Disruptive Startup” award was given to Timescale, developer of TimescaleDB, the easiest, fastest, and most reliable place to store and analyze time-series data. New, private companies less than four-years-old, with fewer than 100 employees and under $50 million in raised capital are eligible for this award.
- Microsoft was the winner of the “Most Innovative Product” award for Personalizer, its cloud-based AI service that helps deliver experiences unique to each user by learning from their real-time behavior. This award is given to a product or service less than two-years-old, launched by a company of any size or age.
- MinIO received the “Open Source Award” for delivering high-performance, S3 compatible object storage for the enterprise. This award is bestowed on an open source project, tool, or contribution that significantly advances the state of data science.
“This year’s Strata Data Award winners are truly driving data science forward with their innovative products and services,” said Ben Lorica, chief data scientist at O’Reilly and Strata Data Conference program chair. “At O’Reilly, we’re excited to see how they’ll advance the industry and society as a whole.”
Strata Data sponsors and exhibitors were invited to submit their project in one of the four categories listed above. A panel of data science experts then reviewed the submissions and selected the finalists. Winners were then chosen by Strata Data attendees through on-site voting, and announced onstage during the final day of keynote presentations on September 26.
